O DEANNA
O Deanna!
O DEANNA
O De-A-N-na
O DEANNA
Well, you know you are my friend, now
O DEANNA
And I ain’t down here for your money
and I ain’t down here for your love
I ain’t down here for your money
I’m down here for your soul
There’s no carpet on the floor
And the winding cloth holds many moths
Around your Ku Klux furniture
I cum a death’s head in your frock
and we discuss the murder plan
We discuss murder and the murder act
Murder takes the wheel of your Cadillac
And death climbs in the back
O DEANNA
O Deanna!
O DEANNA
Sweet Deanna
O DEANNA
O-ho Deanna!
O DEANNA
Well, this is a car
O DEANNA
and this is a gun
O DEANNA
And this is day number one
O DEANNA
Oh my, you
O DEANNA
Our little crimeworn histories
Black and you’re smoking christmas trees
And honey, it ain’t mystery
Why you’re a mystery to me
We will eat out of their pantries
And their parlours
Ashy leavings in their beds
And we’ll unload into their heads
On this mean season
This little angel that I’m squeezin’
She ain’t been mean to me
O DEANNA
O Deanna!
O DEANNA
well, you’re my friend and my partner
O DEANNA
In this house on the hill
O DEANNA
And I ain’t down here for your money
No, I ain’t down here for your love
I ain’t down here for your love or money
I’m down here for your soul
O DEANNA
O Deanna!
O DEANNA
I am a-knocking
O DEANNA
With my toolbox and my stocking
O DEANNA
And I’ll meet you on the corner
Yes, you point it like a finger
And squeeze its little thing
hear its kick, feel its bang
And let’s not worry about its issue
oh, don’t worry about where it’s been
and don’t worry about where it hits
Cause it ain’t yours to sin
O DEANNA
Cause it just ain’t yours to sin
O DEANNA
Ah, Sweet Deanna
O DEANNA
I ain’t getting any younger
O DEANNA
And you’re my friend
O DEANNA
The sun a hump at my shoulder
O DEANNA
And I don’t intend getting any older
O DEANNA
O Deanna!
O DEANNA
Well I ain’t down here for your money
I ain’t down here for your love
I ain’t down here for your love of mo-money
I’m down here for your soul

been staring for a hundred hours
run
down a spiral drain
keep mouth clamped tight, and it isn’t right
three words keep running round my mind
but
my tongue is hard to find
i need to let it go, because i know
dark secrets burn their vessel
tearing out to grab a mouthful
chunk of heart destroyed by quiet
yell it out before it kills you now
let it all out
used to let rumors do my work
they
got around real well
now they only hurt, it’s a liar’s quirk
this time i gotta say it straight
i
mean to do some good
i’m calling out your name, while the chance remains
dark secrets burn their vessel
tearing out to grab a mouthful
chunk of heart destroyed by quiet
yell it out before it kills you now
let it all out
i… i want you
i… i want you
i… i want you
i… i want you
so now you know where i come from
my
secret’s come undone
my heart revealed my cause
i’m lying naked at your feet
don’t
crush the heart that bleeds
take me at my word, it may sound absurd
i… i want you
i… i want you
i… i want you
i… i want you
i want you! i want you!
i want you
i want you! i want you!
i want you
i… want you
i… want you
As the cars go by
Under the sun like an enemy
You wonder, you wonder, you wonder
(breathing)
As a spider comes
And looks at you like an enemy
You wonder, you wonder, you wonder
Yeah miles, miles away
She’s hurt fewer people in a better world
Miles, miles away
Dressed again in the hot water
and you’re more beautiful than ever
Looking in the car’s rear view mirror
(breathing)
the floor is hard I’m comforted
By the second time
She wonders, she hungers, she hungers
Like a killer’s wife
As the cars go by, as the cars go by
As the cars go by, yeah, as the cars go by
Miles, miles away
She’s hurt fewer people in a better world
Miles, miles away
Dressed again in the hot water
Well, you’re more beautiful than ever
Looking in the car’s rear view mirror
yeah, You’re more beautiful than ever
Miles, miles, miles, miles away
Miles, miles away
Damn, I loved this record! Somebody mentioned adding a song from Liars recently, and this seems the obvious choice. No lyrics in the CD booklet and I think the internet had them wrong, so the below is my attempt at a transcription.
Do the twist, before I scream
Come on dance, insurrection
You can’t teach new tricks to blue jeans
But it’s suede, so drop dead
We had a chance to get violent
Shiny teeth, for perfection
The most bright, unassuming
Love the smell of your breath
breath!
Sci Fi
Half time
Mister, you’re on fire, Mister
(No sir, I’m okay)
Mister, you’re on fire, Mister
(No sir, I’m okay)
Mister, you’re on fire, Mister
(No sir, I’m okay)
Mister, you’re on fire, Mister
(No sir, I’m okay)
By the seaside, left the seashore
That’s where I got lost
The seaside, left the seashore
That’s where I got lost
We had a chance to get violent
Shiny teeth, for perfection
The most bright, unassuming
Love the smell of your breath
Sci Fi
Whistle for half time
Mister, you’re on fire, Mister
(No sir, I’m okay)
Mister, you’re on fire, Mister
(No sir, I’m okay)
Mister, you’re on fire, Mister
(No sir, I’m okay)
Mister, you’re on fire, Mister
(No sir, I’m okay)
Want to go to Fun Fun Fun Fest 2013? Want to help provide Texas prisoners with quality reading material? Do both this Saturday!
Karaoke Underground will be part of the festival fun at Mohawk on 11/9, Saturday NITE after Tenacious D, Craig Robins, Jenny Slate and Matt Bearden, and we have a pair of 3-day passes to give away at our First Saturday show at Nomad! You can enter in two ways:
1. Donate $5 to Inside Books, who will have a table at Nomad. They’re a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, the only books-to-prisoners program in Texas, where over 140,000 people are incarcerated. Inside Books Project works to promote reading, literacy, and education among incarcerated individuals and to educate the general public on issues of incarceration.
2. Sing a song from any FFFF2013 artist (including their other projects) and you’ll be entered in the drawing, here’s the long list of KU artists you can choose from:
Bikini Kill
Black Flag
Circle Jerks
Descendents
The Dismemberment Plan
Hüsker Dü
The Impossibles
Jawbreaker
Jets To Brazil
Le Tigre
Misfits
Modest Mouse
Quasi
The Smiths
Smog
Sonic Youth
Television
The Walkmen
We’ll have the drawing about 1 o’clock to give as many people as possible a chance to sing. Singing entries get one ticket per performance (two for duets, but no more than two for group performances), entries for Inside Books Project donations are unlimited. It’s gonna be a great night!
Excited to have a new look after almost ten years, thanks to Kianna Chauntis! Our good friend Patrick Williams set us up with a solid Dreamweaver foundation back in 2004, but it’s time for a change. We’ll be moving more of the KU action back to our own page after getting pretty Facebook-dependent in the last few years, so look for lots of photos, new show/song announcements and some unhinged diatribes to start showing up here instead of there.
